چکیده
Abstract Trait social anxiety may predict differences in the cognitive control of emotional distraction when face discrimination is required. This effect can be investigated using an flanker task. study addresses important research gap, as previous studies did not separate effects trait interaction from phobia upon task performance. In this laboratory based behavioural experiment, 87 participants (mean age 24.3) were university students or staff recruited via departmental adverts. We used (happy versus fearful) task, and assessed sub-clinical with SIAS/SPS. Elevated was related to increased reaction time (RT) congruency effect, whereas not. a decreased happy RT advantage for central target faces, but very weak. subtle reactions facial expressions

While the neural bases of emotional reactivity to social stimuli have been described, the neural bases of emotional reactivity and cognitive regulation during social and physical threat, and their relationship to social anxiety symptom severity, have yet to...
متن کاملA cognitive-behavioral model of anxiety in social phobia.
The current paper presents a model of the experience of anxiety in social/evaluative situations in people with social phobia. The model describes the manner in which people with social phobia perceive and process information related to potential evaluation and the way in which these processes differ between people high and low in social anxiety. It is argued that distortions and biases in the p...

This commentary argues that theories of cognitive control risk being incomplete unless they incorporate social/emotional factors. Social factors very likely played a critical role in the evolution of human cognitive control abilities, and emotional states are the primary regulatory mechanisms of cognitive control.
